Thiago Assaf walking two dogs in New York City

Thoughtful Care Built on Experience, Observation & Trust

My name is Thiago Assaf. Before moving to New York, I earned a degree in Veterinary Medicine from UNIPAC — Universidade Presidente Antônio Carlos, in Brazil (2010), and spent five years working with small animals.

That background shaped how I read what a dog can't say out loud — a shift in appetite, stiffness after a nap, hesitation on the stairs, restlessness that looks like misbehavior but isn't.

That attentiveness carries into every walk today. It's present in the pace I set, in how I read stress signals in a crowded elevator, in the way I adjust a route for a senior dog navigating tight joints.

I also have low vision — something that, in practice, sharpens rather than limits my attention. I rely on touch, body language, and the rhythm of a dog's gait in ways that complement, and sometimes anticipate, what sight alone would catch.

Why We Keep a Limited Roster

Mass dog-walking apps are built for scale, not attention.

Every new client we accept reduces the attention available to the ones who already trust us — so we keep our roster deliberately small.

That means I know the temperament, history, routines, and quirks of the dogs I care for, not simply an address and a time slot.

There's no autopilot here. Every visit is shaped by familiarity, attention, professional background, and years of direct experience — not a generic script applied to every dog in the city.

If you're looking for someone who brings the same rigor to your dog's care that you'd expect from any professional you trust with your home and routine, let's talk.
